No more training this year

Hello everyone,
There will be no training this Friday night. Don't forget to come along to the end of year Judo barbecue at Sandy Bay Beach this Sunday around 11.30.

End of year break

The last training day will be the 15^th December with training re-starting on 15th  Januqary 2014. This counts as one month of training but if you leave your regular  payment in place the extra payment will count as your 2014 membership payment. Membership is usually $35, if you are planning to train in January you will make a saving.

Also, the end of the year is fast approaching with all that that brings.See the previous post - the flyer is about our end of year celebration. This is a long standing club tradition – so have a look at the flyer and if you are available put your name on the list so that we know how many to cater for. All family members are welcome.

Attention: those seniors looking to grade this Thursday - meet me (Judo Dan) in the Unigym car park at 5pm and we'll drive to HTC for the grading. Must be registered to grade - www.ausjudo.com.au

Latest news

The Ulverstone competition is on tomorrow and there is a bus-full of judoka going. On Thursday 14th November there is a senior grading at the Hybrid Traiing Centre, talk to Peter or Dan if any seniors plan on grading.

Ulverstone open competition

UTAS Judo will take a bus to Ulverstone provided the numbers are satisfactory. The bus will be free. You must be signed up by Wednesday 30th October to allow for booking. The sign-up sheet is at the dojo.

Junior Competition

Well done every one who attended the UTAS junior competition. There were around 50 junior judoka present, and everyone had a good time. The results have now been uploaded for your interest.

Junior interclub competition

There will be an interclub competitiion for all junior judoka up to and including 15 years old, at the UniGym dojo.
This will be held on Sunday 22nd September. Weigh in starts at 9.30 to 10.15. Competition starts at 10.30am.

The competition costs $5.00 for early-bird entry, or $10.00 in the day.

This is a junior competition only and all competitiors must also be members of Judo Tasmania.

Senior grading

Congratulations to all who attended the senior grading on the weekend. It was a great day with lots of people attending.
Sensei Daniel attained his first dan (sho-dan) black belt, congratulations! He displayed an impressive kata.
Jo and Colin attained green belts (san kyu) and Ivan and James attained orange belts (yon kyu).

AGM August 21st 2013 at the Dojo

Senior grading Saturday 17th August at the PCYC 3pm

All those grading need to attend and be registered with JudoTasmania. Those thinking about higher grades (green and blue) should attend to get an idea of what they need to do and how far they've got to go. You never know, there might even be a surprise grading or two out of it.

Sensei Bruce’s farewell dinner

All the juniors have given Sensei Bruce a wonderful surprise celebration on Wednesday night.  This Friday 5th July, we will head to Solo Pizza on King St Sandy Bay for a dinner at 8pm as the final goodbye and thank you to Sensei Bruce.  Thanks to all those who helped out with Wednesday night’s celebration and gift donations.  It was a lovely send-off for the clubs longest standing member and chief sensei.  Email Dan (daniel.bernal@utas.edu.au) ASAP to put your name down please – reservation is for 15 people and has to be confirmed by tomorrow arvo.
