Last training night of 2015

Hi all,

Tonight is the last training night of the year. It is also Sensei Dan's farewell. We thank Dan for his skills and expertise and help in coaching all the junior and senior judoka. We wish him and his family well in their new adventure in New Zealand.

Training will recommence at start of school term in 2016 for juniors.  The advanced classes at 6pm on Friday nights taken by sensei Les Vincent will resume on the third Friday in January.

I would like to get some feedback about whether people prefer to use facebook or this blog site for their judo information.

Currently we pay a yearly fee to keep the 'www.unijudoclub.com' name.
If people don't use this site much, or are not too concerned over the name, then we could do without paying the fee and, if needed, direct people to 'www.unijudoclub.blogspot.com' which is free. Its due for payment soon.

Bridgewater PCYC Judo Club Open Competition

All registered players are invited to attend and compete in the BPCYC Judo Club open competition.
DATE: 13th September 2015
VENUE: Bridgewater PCYC Judo Club. Greenpoint Rd, Bridgewater (behind Woolworths)

WEIGH IN COMMENCES:
9.15am: 8 yrs & under (B/G must not turn 9 in 2015) 20 point system will run for under 8s.
9:15am: Junior B/G 9yrs & under 12 (must not turn 12 in 2015)
9:30am: Senior B/G 12 yrs & under 15yrs (must not turn 15 in 2015)
9:45: Cadets 15, 16, 17yrs (must not turn 18 in 2015)
10:30am: Junior M/W 18, 19, 20yrs (must not turn 21 in 2015)
10:30am: Seniors
COMPETITION START TIME: 10.30am
NOTE: Age and weight divisions may be adjusted to allow for participation.
COST FOR COMPETITORS: Juniors-Cadets: $10.00. Seniors: $15.00. Players wishing to compete in additional categories will be charged a $5 fee.
SPECTATORS: Gold coin donation.

No judo tonight

Our sensei for tonight, Peter Creef, is snowed in, so there will be no judo tonight.
Training will be back on Wednesday as normal.

Friday night competition training with Les Vincent

Starting Friday the 10^th July as a weekly event, the 6-8pm training session will be taken by Les Vincent, Judo Tasmania’s state coach.

Les has an impressive background in judo having competed at multiple international events as a representative of the New Zealand Judo Team. We are very lucky to have him as state coach for Tasmania, but even luckier to have him willing to undertake state training sessions at UTAS Judo on a weekly basis.

If you have any interest in competition judo or are looking to push your judo a little harder than in the normal training sessions, make sure you attend on Friday nights.

Judoka from all other clubs in the state will be invited to these sessions and this will be an excellent opportunity to test some of your skills against players that you don’t normally train with.

Costs are covered for all UTAS Judo fee-paying members.

Visiting judoka, please pay $5 on the night.

July School Hoildays

Monday 6th:     Junior and senior training from 6-8pm as normal

Wednesday 8th:     Seniors only starting at 7pm

Friday 10th:     State training with Les Vincent 6-8pm, all players, seniors & juniors, interested in competition judo should attend

Monday 13th:     No training – have a rest after Friday's hard session

Wednesday 15th:     Seniors only starting at 7pm

Friday 17th:         State training with Les Vincent, 6-8pm

Monday 8th June holiday

Please note that there won't be any judo training on Monday night due to the Queen's birthday holiday.

Update to training times over Easter

Training over Easter and School Holi's as follows: Easter Fri, Mon and the Wed following - no training.
Friday 10th and 17th of April, normal senior training and older juniors are welcome.
Also - Monday 13th April there will be NORMAL training - i.e. both seniors and juniors from 6-8pm ... But Wednesday 15th April, no training. Please ask if unsure. Have a great Easter and hope to see you on the mat on the Friday's and Monday following.

There will be no training on Good Friday  (3rd) or Easter Monday (6th).

No Judo tonight

There's no training at the Unigym dojo tonight. Instead Dan and James will be grading at HTC. Come along to support them and get a little randori in with some different bodies. 5-7pm at HTC next to Chemist Warehouse on Murray St

Australia Day

I hope everyone is having a great Australia Day long weekend.
I thought I had better let you know that there is no judo on Monday 26th.

The new year is over and , time to work on your fitness, judo is back

Well its that time of year to start working off that Christmas and NewYear cheer.
Senior Judoka start training on Wednesday 21st January, at the usual time an place!
Juniors start back on Monday the 2nd of February.
