Congratulations to our four players representing UTAS Judo at the Tasmanian State Titles held on Sunday at the Bridgewater PCYC.
Congratulations go to Miley Fleming, Tom Double, and Roman Koelbel, all giving one hundred percent effort against strong competitors.
Well done to Toby Fleming who added another state title to his collection.
It was a hard day of competitions for all, with many recognising areas to work on at future training. Perhaps also a good start to their training program for those thinking about attending the National Championships next year.

Training News

Great to see so many new faces on the mat in the past few weeks.  Thanks to all the senior grades for helping out at training and thanks to the parents and helpers who have given their time to organise and run our past few Univeristy Expo days.

For the newbies, I have a challenge for you. Consider the following statistic: “5 out of 10 who join a judo club will drop out within the first 6 months."

My challenge to you is to break these statistics! Judo is a challenging sport. You are succeeding by simply turning up to training. The rest will come with time.

See you soon

Judo Dan

Also great to see so many new girls on the mat – Did you know that the three highest competition accolades in Judo are held by female judoka?

Most medals at all major events: Isabel Fernandez (ESP)

Most medals at Olympics: Ryoko Tani (JPN) (also most gold medals at world champs equal with Wen Tong of China)

End of year break

The last training day will be the 15th December with training re-starting on 15th  Januqary 2014. This counts as one month of training but if you leave your regular  payment in place the extra payment will count as your 2014 membership payment. Membership is usually $35, if you are planning to train in January you will make a saving.

Also, the end of the year is fast approaching with all that that brings.See the previous post - the flyer is about our end of year celebration. This is a long standing club tradition – so have a look at the flyer and if you are available put your name on the list so that we know how many to cater for. All family members are welcome.
